Tattoo Aftercare Instructions
1. First hours after the tattoo:
Change the plastic wrap within 3 hours after getting your tattoo.(Only if you got a plastic wrap) If you got a pads you don’t have to change it until you showered.
It’s important to shower while the foil/aftercare pads is still on — this prevents soap or shower gel from getting directly onto the fresh tattoo.
The best time to replace the wrap is right after your shower.
⸻
Changing process:
Every time you touch your tattoo, wash your hands first!
1. Carefully remove the foil.
2. Gently clean the tattoo with a wet paper towel – use only water, no soap.
3. Pat it dry softly with a clean paper towel.
4. Apply a new piece of foil /pads over the tattoo.
Avoid leaving your tattoo uncovered for more than 10 minutes at a time. Always rewrap it immediately.
You do not need to apply cream under the foil/pads – these keeps the tattoo moisturized.
Don’t use fewer chemicals (such as creams or soaps).
⸻
How long to use the foil/pads:
Repeat this changing process for 1–1,5 days, about 3–4 times a day if you use a plastic wrap / and 1-2times a day if you use pads.
You can stop using the foil/pads once the light, snot-like fluid under the skin stops appearing (usually after 1-1,5day).
From that point on, you no longer need to cover it.
⸻
After removing the foil:
Start using tattoo aftercare cream (for example, Aquaphor,Huste Butter).
Apply it very thinly – do not overuse!
The tattoo should look slightly shiny from the cream, not white or greasy.
Continue applying the aftercare cream for 4-5 more days, 3–4 times a day.
After finishing the healing cream phase, switch to a good quality body lotion and use it daily for about a month.
⸻
Important:
• Always wash your hands before touching your tattoo – it’s an open wound.
• Do not use soap or perfumed products during the first few days.
• Avoid tight clothing and keep the tattoo clean and moisturized.
